Hello!

I am an artist, illustrator, and animator cultivating imagination and wonder through fantastical vignettes of digital and mixed media. I work with art directors, fellow artists, and collaborators of all kinds to move audiences into surreal worlds that drip with possibility.

I work in whatever medium feels right for the project. This might include painting, sculptural installations, stop motion animation, or elaborate 2D digital animation. My work is informed by children’s literature, magical surrealism writings and films, animation, ecology, and the built environment.

More About Me

My multi-pronged practice comes from holding many roles in arts organizations alongside a steady studio practice. For fifteen years I was an arts educator in big and small museums and built my chops “wearing all the hats” of marketing, storytelling, and engaging audiences of all ages. From online game design to interpretive gallery activities and directing festivals—I’ve always had a passion for shaping content centered around the guiding goal or needs of the user/artist/storyteller.

Over the past few years, I’ve amassed skills in storyboarding, concept design, and 2D and 3D animating techniques that include both stop motion and digital approaches. Through my work with internet sensation Andrea Love, I’ve contributed to projects for high profile music videos, promotional projects for Laika, and European luxury fashion companies.

Alongside this work, I run a residency program at Centrum Foundation, where I have the extreme privilege of supporting artists, writers, dancers, and makers of all kinds by helping them have space, time, and peer support to prioritize their creative practices.

Put these things all in a blender and here I am - someone who loves working with other people and using art as a vehicle for change, meaning, and enjoyment. I write about moving throughout these different worlds here.

THE CREDENTIALS

Originally from Nashville, TN, I hold a BFA from Maryland Institute of Art and a MFA from Vermont College of Fine Arts. I’ve exhibited all over the country and had work published in publications such as New American Paintings and Strait Up. I’ve worked as an educator and public program curator at The Walters Art Museum, the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the Henry Art Gallery. I’m an experienced presenter and have presented to audiences and classes at numerous conferences and colleges over the years including the American Association of Museums, University of Washington, Evergreen State College, and the Maryland Institute College of Art. I live in Port Townsend, WA.
